If you didn’t already know, painkillers take up more capacity in your inventory. In fact, painkillers take up over double the space of energy drinks! So whats the difference? and Should you just use energy drinks to save space?
Well here are the facts:
Item | Cast Time (s) | Boost Bar (%) | Boost Duration (m) | Health Regeneration (%) |
---|---|---|---|---|
4 | 40 | 2 | 22.5 | |
6 | 60 | 3 | 37.5 |
Energy drink is quicker to use but regenerates health less and for a shorter amount of time. It also fills up the boost bar less compared to painkillers. There is a really detailed and clear youtube video by MagnumDopus which explains the boost bar.
When it comes to actually using the boosters in-game, it really depends on the situation you are in. So I would try and take both energy drinks and painkillers in your inventory, maybe taking more energy drinks to save space.
On a side note, there is the possibility of stacking you boosters to fill up your boost bar to 100%. This means using more than one energy drink or painkiller one after the other. Using the stats above, drinking 2 energy drinks will boost the bar to 80%, three will take you all the way to 100%, and taking 2 painkillers will boost the bar to 100%. The 4 separate sections of the boost bar cause different effects, the first 2 bars cause health regen effects only, and the second 2 cause both health regen effects and movement speed increase.
After taking one energy drink, your boost bar will fill 40%. This is enough to have +2 HP increase every 8 seconds for 1 minute and then +1 HP every 8 seconds for 1 minute, giving a total health regen of, like it says in the table above, 22.5 HP. After taking one painkiller, your boost bar will fill 60% and you will gain +2 HP every 8 seconds for 2 minutes and then +1 HP every 8 seconds for 1 minute. This gives you a total health regen of 37.5 HP.
